You will love the skills and our awesome way of presenting it. All our guide training courses are designed to equip you with a variety of skills and to lead you to completing successful certification.

Training Course Duration
Our Mountain Walking Guide training course runs over 9 full days. Public courses (open enrollment) usually starts on a Saturday and ends on the following Sunday, meaning you only have one week to take off work.

We do occasionally run part-time courses, please enquire with us.

We can schedule this course for groups and companies to suit your dates.

Topics & Content
The course is a mixture of theory lectures and practical in-field training.
Topics include: equipment; mountain leadership; group dynamics; mountain hazards; self-defense for mountain guides; advanced navigation; safety-on-steep-ground and rope work; basic self-rescue; and much more.

Assessment
You can be assessed for various levels of competency in mountain walking.
This includes:
Day Hiking
Overnight On-Trail Hiking
Overnight Of-Trail Hiking
National Mountain Walking Guide

Assessment includes written exams, and a practical in-field assessment.
Assessment can take 2 to 4 days depending on chosen scope.
