Meet the VFI team

Because the team makes it work...

Venture Forth is not about one person and that is what has always set us apart. Our aim is to  create and run a sustainable adventure business that we can be proud of and that does Africa proud. We want to share our passion for mountains, rivers, lakes, oceans and all things adventure with our clients. We want to bring people to Africa, introduce people to outdoor adventure and promote the safe use of mountains, rivers and wilderness areas.

  Walther Meyer
  Managing director

Walt joined Venture Forth in 1997. He trained in the USA as a tecnical alpine leader on snow, rock and ice before returning to run Venture Forth.

With over 30 years of personal mountaineering and adventure experience, Walt has climbed and guided in Southern and East Africa, South America, the USA and Canada and is one of only 3 people in the country holding all available National Qualifications in mountain guiding.

Walt is the most experienced trainer and assessor of adventure guides in South Africa and as a firm believer in the power of adventure is actively involved in the development of the adventure guiding and outdoor education industry.

He spent many years on the road as an active volunteer for the government emergency services in the Western Cape and founded the first wilderness first aid training company in South Africa, Wild Medix.
