Circumnavigating Mont Blanc this trip starts in France at Chamonix and will cross over into Switzerland and Italy. It is a trip suitable for any reasonably experienced hiker, and rest days have been planned into the tour. We hike approximatly 220 kilometers and maintain an altitude of approximatly 2000 meters although each days vertical gain/loss is in the region of 1000 meters.

Walt has just finished running a Basic Mountain Leader course for the great folks who volunteer for the Centre for Justice and Crime Prevention. CJCP is involved in running wilderness intervention programs for youth-at-risk and juvenile offenders. The course ran at the Trans-Karoo Hiking Trail near Middelburg in the Eastern Cape. VFI is proud of our association with CJCP and we hope the new Mountain Leaders will put their skills to good use.
